TABLES + CHAIR SET Designer: Patrycja Badura

The main idea behind the table’s concept was to keep it already ready to use by every child. Without the necessity of manually adjust it to the needs of children with disabilities. It will make them feel equal, resourceful and independent.
In consequence, the form and dimensions of the table arise from the dimensions of a typical children’s chair and a wheelchair intended for children. As the height of above-mentioned scats is significantly different, the tabletops were designed at two different heights. This makes the play comfortable and accessible for every child, regardless of potential disabilities. A circle based countcrtops allow children to use the table in comfort, from all sides. While rounded edges and a reduced number of sharp clements make the play safe.
So that the play is possible, a special space for toys and drawing materials is needed. These items arc supposed to be kept in colourful, fabric sacks, placed below the table. The size of these bags can be adjusted to one’s needs, as long as they arc compatible with the diameter of the countcrtops’ cutouts. The fact that pouches arc made of fabric, allows placing there toys of any shape. To make the piece of furniture fits into the interiors of public spaces well, the pouches can come in various colours.

The dimensions of single clements let us combine them differently. If it is needed, the double table tops can be transformed into two single tables, just by adding two table legs. When the table is no longer needed in public space, it can be reused in its original form, as well as two separate tables. This also allows us to adapt the table to home conditions, private spaces and the needs of a specific user.

The form of the chair follows the design of the table. Its rounded backrest refers to the oval shape of the table, and the upholstered seat corresponds to fabric pouches. The use of fabric in the design allows us to personalize the furniture. Its colour may refer to the colours of the space, in which it is located. Besides these practical reasons, the fabric gives furniture a more casual, child-friendly character.
All material proposed in the project, both the chair and the table, are renewable and recyclable.
